Another solid DVD from Mega Star.
The image has a clean natural look, with some fantastic colors. The red palette of the hotel room, the white of Joey's apartment, and the harsh blue-green look of the hospital scenes, all the various color schemes are perfectly presented.
Despite the clean appearance and the strong colors, the image never becomes too digital, but retains an organic film-like look throughout the movie. Very pleasant to look at. There's virtually no specks.
Subs are white with a black edge, with a few odd translations. English dialogue is not subtitled in English.
The limited extras begin with an alternate ending, which is kinda dumb. It's shorter than the one in the film, and it's nowhere near as emotional. The clip is presented non-anamorphic without subs.
The "making of" program is far more interesting. Though half of the running time is devoted to clips from the film and the trailer, the rest of it is worth checking out. There's interviews with the directors, the producer and Shu Qi, and some behind the scenes footage that show the crew at work. Among the interesting details covered, is the fact that some of the ghost sightings in the film are inspired by "real" ghost stories.
There's also a brief synopsis (2 pages), and some limited cast and crew bios. Trailer and teaser for "The Eye 2" and four trailers for other films, round out the package.
