Shu Qi started out doing some photo shoots in the nude. These shoots understandably attracted attention, and she got a leading part in the movie Viva Erotica a star was born. She is probably not too happy with these early photo shoots anymore but she has nothing to be ashamed of.
Shu Qi is one of the most beautiful women in the world. Her body is perfect, but what makes her different from a lot of other beautiful women is the energy, the vivacity and the acting talent, that she brings to every movie, in which she stars. Her perfect body distracts both directors and audience from noticing how good an actress she actually is. Had she been a little less beautiful, she might have been cast in parts more worthy of her talent. All that aside having such a body it would be a shame not to flaunt it. We should be very happy, that she did those photo shoots, as they give us a perfect opportunity just to watch and dream. She may be naked, but at least in a western sense (I dont know, how the Chinese see it) these pictures are not pornographic. They are erotic very much so but have a soft dreaming quality, that make them a lot sexier than crass in your face pornography.
Bodies change. As we mature, so do our bodies. The body may still be beautiful, but it is a different kind of beauty. I think Shu Qi should be very proud and happy, that these pictures of her beautiful young body will still be here in years to come. As Shu Qi is so much more, than just another beautiful body, I can understand, if she wants to be known as a fine actress and not just another beautiful woman, who can also act a little. With that in mind, I think she made the right decision, when she chose not to make those naked photo shoots anymore.
You can find a lot of these photo shoots on DVD. We have just a couple, but if you search the net, there are many more even if a lot of them are the same shoots, just put together in a different way. She IS extremely beautiful, so they are well worth watching but if you see her in one of her good movies, you will notice the difference between a beautiful model and a beautiful actress.
