This is another one of those Universe DVDs that are just a tad below what you might expect. The image is deeply flawed. It's unsteady and riddled with specs and dirt. A few scenes, like the opening in the factory and the disco scene, seem alright in terms of colors, but the rest of the film has a cheap faded look, which is terribly unattractive. The image also has plenty of compression artefacts.
The sound is less than effective. The effects and the music are the only things that give a sense of surround sound. When they are not present, and the audio consist only of dialogue, it sounds hollow and weak, often with excessive background noise.
Subs are clear. White with black edge.
>Extras consist of the usual batch of trailers and bios, plus a 15 minutes featurette on the production, subtitled in both English and Chinese. This is actually above average. There's plenty of footage with Ekin Cheng goofing around. He mentions that he fears for his life, now that the shoot is over, because he has offended the entire crew during production! Other than that the feature consists of short interviews, some of them played for fun, and some great behind the scenes footage, for example we get to see Shu Qi being cyber-scanned. There's also some before and after versions of several effect shots.
